Helping an Aging Parent?

You Don’t Have to Have all the Answers Yet.

Maybe nothing urgent has happened – but you’ve started wondering whether Mom or Dad’s current living situation will continue to work.

Or, maybe something has changed, and conversations you thought were still years away suddenly need to happen now.

Either way, knowing where to begin can be difficult.

Moving Mom & Dad is a complimentary guide designed to help adult children better understand some of the conversations, decisions, and options that can arise as a parent ages.

Inside the guide, you’ll learn about:

  • How to begin the difficult “What if?” conversation

  • Questions that can help uncover what matters most to your parent

  • Options that may help a parent remain safely at home

  • Different housing and senior living choices

  • What to consider if a move becomes appropriate

  • How to approach a lifetime of belongings

  • Important documents families should know about

  • Questions to ask when evaluating senior living communities

  • Questions to ask professionals you may need along the way

You don’t need to read all 40+ pages at once. Think of it as a resource you can keep nearby and come back to as questions arise.

A Little Understanding Now Can Make Future Decisions Easier

One of the hardest times to learn about these choices is in the middle of a crisis

Understanding some of the possibilities ahead of time can make it easier to have thoughtful conversations with your parent, and make decisions together when possible.

And, if something has already changed – a fall, hospitalization, a rehabilitation stay, or other change in health – the guide can help you begin sorting through the questions in front of both of you.

The goal isn’t to have all the answers.

It’s to understand the options before deciding what comes next.

Why I’m Offering This Guide

I’m Liz Houghton, a Certified Senior Housing Professional (CSHP) and the founder of Wise Senior Moves. My specialized education in senior housing and transitions has reinforced something I strongly believe.

Good decisions begin with understanding the whole situation and all the options, not with a predetermined solution.

That’s why I want you to have this guide.

Sometimes staying in the current home with the right support may make sense.  Sometimes, a smaller, more manageable home is worth considering.  And, sometimes assisted living or another senior living option may be appropriate

You don’t need to know which one is right before you begin asking questions.

And Remember …

Receiving a guide doesn’t mean you have to figure all of this out yourself.

At Wise Senior Moves, we help adult children and their aging parents understand their options before deciding what comes next.

We Don’t Begin with a Predetermined Answer.

We begin by understanding what’s happening, what matters to you, and what choices may be available.

And once you’ve determined the way forward, we can help you navigate the people, resources, and details needed to put that decision into action.

You don’t even have to know what kind of help you need before reaching out.

That’s what we’re here to help you figure out.
